Welcome to Miles Jesu

Miles Jesu participates in the Church’s mission principally through the new evangelization: led by the spirit of the Gospel for the sanctification of the world from within as leaven. Our goal is to provide a specific means for the laity to recognize and live out the call to become saints, not only by work but by family and social commitment, and to help others become saints. This calls for leaders in seeking the Kingdom of God by engaging in temporal affairs and by ordering them according to the plan of God.

Fr Vota Ordination Coming of Age with Pope John Paul II the Great
Pope John Paul II’s 27-year pontificate spanned two full generations of young Catholics. Anyone born from the mid 1950’s up through the end of the twentieth century got at least some of their Catholic formation during the watch of Pope John Paul II, who certainly made every effort to evangelize the young. This month in honor of Pope John Paul’s beatification, Miles Jesu domus and vinculum members of different ages and varying cultures share their testimonies about the influence the “Man from a Far Country” had on their lives.

The liturgy of the word (the first part of Mass where we sit and listen to readings from the gospel, the psalms, and other Old and New Testament texts) spells out for us chapter and verse what the Church has assigned for the day’s reading,

None of you wants to sit through another classroom lecture. So my comments will be brief. Then we can get to some questions and answers. I’m also going to skip telling you how talented you are. You already know that. You wouldn’t be here if you weren’t. What you’ll discover as you get older is that the world has plenty of very talented failures – people who either didn’t live up to their abilities...

Over the past few days, I’ve gotten at least a half dozen calls and emails from family and friends back East telling me about the latest spate of wicked weather. They’re enduring record low temperatures, massive amounts of snow and ice and a lingering grayness that chills the spirit as well as the atmosphere. Meanwhile, I’m living in Phoenix, where the natives don parkas and fur-lined boots whenever the thermometer dips below 50 while the local weather forecasters bemoan the nasty ‘cold snap’ overtaking the desert...
